Analysis on Influencing Factors of Nutritional Status and Physical Growth of Pre-school Children in Island Area

Abstract
A survey on nutritional status in We-do, Booan county, Jeonbug province was performed in order to find nutritional status and physical growth of pre-school children from 29 July through 4 August 1977. To analyse the findings, stepwise multiple regression program was used. The results are as follows: 1. The highest simple correlation coefficient between physical growth using body weight and economic status of household as a selected variable was +0.547, while that between height, head girth, and chest girth and economic status was +0.503, +0.284 and +0.441 respectively. 2. The simple correlation coefficients between nutritional status and educational level of mother, occupation of household and economic status as selected variables, were statistically highly significant at level of one or five per cent. 3. The multiple correlation coefficients regarding to body weight, height, head girth and chest girth were in the following order; economic status and educational level of mother. 4. The significant selected variables affecting parasitic infections by multiple correlation coefficient was the occupation of household head, and those affecting cheilosis were mother¢¥s educational level and economic status, and that of total calorie intake was age.
